GPS was a weapons system until we opened it to every ship, truck, and phone on earth.
Today, China and other authoritarian regimes have optimized for control and surveillance. The US, on the other hand, runs on the free movement of capital, ideas, and people. We win if we support systems and technology with no chokepoint.
