Joey currently serves as Chief Strategy, Policy, and Regulatory Affairs Officer at Xapo Bank, one of the first Bitcoin-native licensed banks. He has acted as a specialist consultant to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime on global standards for blockchain and cryptocurrency, and a specialist advisor to Rootstock Labs, the original Bitcoin Layer 2. He was also the Xapo representative on the Libra/Diem initiative and has formed part of the Wharton University Reg@tech group since 2018. He was part of the Gibraltar Government working group that produced the first DLT regulatory framework in the world in 2017 and forms part of various All Party Parliamentary Groups in the UK where he is the advisor to the Board of the British Blockchain Association. Joey is the author of “The Case for On-Chain Privacy and Compliance” in the Stanford Journal of Blockchain Law & Policy and was recognized by Chambers & Partners in the inaugural Top 12 Global Individuals in their Fintech ranking and lectures on Distributed Ledger Technology for legal students.
